NAXOS is one of the largest and most fertile islands in the Cyclades. Seen from the sea it looks like many of the Greek islands rocky and barren, but once you land and drive into the interior there are wooded and lush valleys with charming villages.

Naxos town is a busy and cosmopolitan town. There are many good tavernas and bars and plenty of interesting shops, however it’s real charm lies in the labyrinth of backstreets that lie in the Venetian quarter and the myriad of fascinating churches and buildings that date from ancient times.

The walking is varied with a mixture of dirt roads and historical cobbled paths. We visit archaeological sites, frescoed chapels, caves, and unspoiled villages. Lunches are taken in out of the way tavernas where we meet the locals. At the end of the day we bathe in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean from one of the many sandy beaches.
